10 Healthy Halloween Treats for Trick-or-Treaters

Written by: Ally

Most people still hand out candy and sugary snacks on Halloween.  But maybe it’s time to try something healthier that’s just as much fun.  🙂  Here are our top 10 candy alternatives for Halloween:

1.  Halloween Sticker or Tattoo Packets

You can buy these anywhere — Dollar Tree, Walmart, Target, Michaels, — and kids love stickers and tattoos. They will be happy that this will be something their parents won’t take away and it’ll last longer.

2.  Trail Mix

Parents don’t feel comfortable letting their kids eat something homemade from a stranger so it is best if you can find individual packets of trail mix at your local health foods store. Once again, the kids will be happy that it is something the parents won’t take away and they’ll enjoy that it is still food! Pick a trail mix that has nuts and dried fruit. It’s okay if there are mini chocolate chips too. That’ll make the kids more excited anyway!

3.  Keychains or Beaded Jewelry

You can get crafts to make beaded jewelry or keychains just about anywhere and it’s something the kids can keep forever. Chances are, the parents will like them too!

4.  Glow Sticks

This treat can even be used on Halloween night. The kids will love popping these and making them into bracelets to add to their costumes.

5.  Party Favors

This can range from small yoyos to mini puzzles to pencils to spider rings! There is an endless list of non-candy related party favors at your local party store. 🙂

6.  Granola bars

Granola bars are sweet (makes the kid happy) but they also have healthy ingredients (makes the parents happy). You can get all-natural granola bars in bulk and pass those out. It’s a great snack while they are trick-or-treating.

7.  Unsweetened Applesauce

Applesauce cups usually have a clear top that you can draw a spooky Halloween design on.

8.  Halloween Pretzel Packs

These exist. They are jack-o-lantern shaped pretzels and are a great alternative!

9.  Mandarins

Who doesn’t love a sweet mandarin?! Draw a cute jack-o-lantern face on them to make them extra Halloweeny!

10.  Babybell cheese wheels

These are a great source of calcium and kids love them!
